Will be future be bright or bleak?
What is Futurism?
Futurism was an early 20th-century artistic movement that originated in Italy and emphasized the dynamism, speed, energy, and power of the machine and the vitality, change, and restlessness of modern life12. The movement’s influence radiated outward across most of Europe, most significantly to the Russian avant-garde1. The most significant results of the movement were in the visual arts and poetry1.
The movement was first announced on February 20, 1909, when the Paris newspaper Le Figaro published a manifesto by the Italian poet and editor Filippo Tommaso Marinetti1. Marinetti coined the word “Futurism” to reflect his goal of discarding the art of the past and celebrating change, originality, and innovation in culture and society1. Marinetti’s manifesto glorified the new technology of the automobile and the beauty of its speed, power, and movement1. Exalting violence and conflict, he called for the sweeping repudiation of traditional values and the destruction of cultural institutions such as museums and libraries1.
Some say the future can be found in the past.
The Anunnaki are a group of deities of the ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians and Babylonians 1. They were believed to be the offspring of An and his consort, the earth goddess Ki 1. The oldest of the Anunnaki was Enlil, the god of air and chief god of the Sumerian pantheon 1. The Anunnaki were deities in the pantheon, descendants of An and Ki, and their primary function was to decree the fates of humanity.
